Students must be currently enrolled in a health profession program and have completed sophomore year of undergraduate studies by the start of the program. Students must be Illinois residents. Preference will be given to students from rural Illinois communities with interest in serving a rural community in the future."}

About this opportunity

The Rural Interprofessional Health Professions Summer Preceptorships program offers an educational experience for health professions students who want to learn more about healthcare in rural settings. Participating sites for 2026 are: Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services Gibson City, Illinois May 27 - July 2, 2026 Students will be exposed to all aspects of a rural healthcare community including: Social and health characteristics, needs, and resources of a specific rural community Roles and responsibilities of different healthcare providers in a rural community Healthcare provider careers in a rural community and potential locations for future career practice
