Sloan Foundation awards prestigious two-year, $75,000 fellowships to early-career scientists and scholars whose achievements identify them as rising stars among the next generation of scientific leaders. Fellows are nominated by their department chairs or senior colleagues, with awards made in eight fields: chemistry, computer science, Earth system science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, ocean sciences, and physics.
