BACKGROUND The NIST Sensor Science Division (SSD) supports the US industrial competitiveness by advancing the next generation of SI-traceable measurements in dimensional metrology, thermodynamics, optical radiation, and fluid flow. The Fluid Metrology Group (FMG) within the SSD maintains standards for realizing gas flow, including air speed.
