The Canopy Actuated Release Bolt (CARB), used on the F-16 aircraft, is a Critical Safety Item (CSI) essential for aircrew survival. The CARB consists of a high-strength steel body that is configured with an internal passage for the explosive train, a port at each end for the attachment of a Detonation Transfer Assembly (DTA), and two circumferential grooves.
