About this opportunity
The National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducts respirator approval testing. This includes approval and audit testing for CBRN, SCBA, and Firefighting respirators. These respirators, in various configurations, require a source of high pressure breathable air for approval and audit testing. Additionally, these respirators undergo human participant testing, and the compressed air must be of sufficient quality to meet all applicable human safety requirements. Currently, the only NIOSH owned breathing air compressor that is capable of producing 7000 psi is broken and requires parts and repairs.
