About this opportunity
The Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health (BWCH) first formalized its approach to family engagement in 2017 with the creation of a Family Advisor Program within the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Program. At that time, BWCH partnered with two (2) parents with first-hand, health experience navigating systems of care for CYSHCN. In their role as paid advisors, these parents provided direct and meaningful input into the systems, policies, programs, and practices that influence the care, health, and well-being of CYSHCN and their families. This successful partnership demonstrated the value of integrating the voices of those directly impacted into decision-making processes.
