limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents*OverviewMany new engine concepts include a turbocharger to help increase thermal efficiency and increase power density (horse power/liter displacement). The turbine and compressor wheels in the turbocharger rotate at speeds over 100,000 revolutions per minute (rpm). The limitations of current turbine designs are largely driven by materials and manufacturing requirements. The mass of these rotating components in the turbocharger can have a negative impact on the efficiency and transient response of the turbocharger.
