The grant period began on June 15, 2020, and continues through December 31, 2024. A total of $175,569,580 was distributed among successful LEA applicants who demonstrated the need for the IEEEP funds, the ability to meet the requirements in the Request for Application (RFA), and provided the required 33 percent fiscal matching of funds as well as demonstrated fiscal sustainability beyond the grant period. Grants were competitively awarded based on the selection criteria described in the RFA, with priority for funding going to low-income and high need areas pursuant to California Education Code (EC) Section 8499.5, which includes the number of eligible children birth to five years of age with an IFSP or IEP as well as those applicants that represented a consortium of local community partners, including local special education partners and those with expertise in inclusive early learning and care environments.
