The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Thermo Electron North America LLC for an annual maintenance agreement for a mass spectrometer (Thermo Orbitrap Fusion Lumos) and attached nano-UPLC system (Thermo RSLCnano UPLC). Thermo Electron North America LLC is the only vendor available that can provide service and maintenance for these instruments, which are highly complex and have many proprietary parts manufactured and sold exclusive by them. Unity Labs is the service branch of Thermo Electron North America. Only Unity service engineers have access to the training and parts needed to maintain the instruments at the required service levels.
