Powerhouse 1 Units 13 Existing digital excitation regulator hardware remains serviceable. Front-end excitation controls, field breakers, and operator interface components are obsolete and/or experiencing reliability issues. The Government is evaluating a targeted excitation system modernization approach, which may include replacement of failing or obsolete front-end components while reusing existing regulator hardware and cubicles, with modifications as required. Powerhouse 2 Units 45 Existing excitation systems include legacy components operating beyond their recommended design life. The Government is evaluating a full excitation system replacement for these units, which may include removal of existing equipment and installation of new digital static excitation systems.
