The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate and award a sole source, firm fixed price contract with Eaton Mission Systems Division, Davenport, Iowa the historical producer of FLU-8 devices for the relocation and qualification of manufacturing for the FLU-8B/P Automatic Inflation Device (DODIC FW98) and associated batteries. The FLU-8B/P is a critical safety item designed to automatically inflate aircrew life preservers upon immersion in water after egress from ejection seat equipped aircraft. The device utilizes an electro-explosive primer to activate a CO2 cylinder for inflation. Historically, FLU-8 devices have been manufactured at Eaton Mission Systems Orchard Park (CAGE 04577), but production is being transitioned to Eaton Mission Systems Davenport (CAGE 99251).
