There are 52.6 percent of Pennsylvania’s water-quality-impaired watersheds polluted from nonpoint source pollution, such as abandoned mine drainage, urban and agricultural runoff, atmospheric deposition, on-lot sewage systems, earthmoving, stream hydromodification and timber harvesting. Pennsylvania’s Nonpoint Source Management Program establishes the overall strategy Pennsylvania will use to implement watershed restoration and protection activities.
