OSMO1 Osmometer for James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Background: The James H. Quillen VAMC P&LMS needs to purchase a replacement for an Osmo 1 Single-Sample Micro Osmometer to be used for the measurement of osmolality in serum/urine, plasma, and other body fluids to support patient care and meet Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements. Osmolality testing is required for evaluation of electrolyte and water balance, toxic alcohol ingestion, and other critical clinical conditions. A dedicated micro osmometer is necessary to support current and projected testing volumes, reduce turnaround time, and improve accuracy and reliability of results.
