About this opportunity
NAVSUP Fleet Logistics San Diego (FLCSD) intents to negotiate and award a commercial sole source contract to Hawthorne Cat, 16945 Camino San Bernardo, San Diego, CA in accordance with RFO Part 6.103 and Part 13.5. Ship’s Force (S/F) discovered degraded exhaust shielding on the Ship Service Diesel Generator (SSDG) exhaust manifolds. The required heat shields are not available in the standard stock system. The current shielding has degraded heat resistance capabilities and entrained oil, which constitutes a significant fire hazard. With exhaust temperatures reaching approximately 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the current condition poses a high-risk of burn injuries to personnel and secondary damage to equipment.
