The NLM Information Resource Grants program (hereafter referred to as “program”) using G08 mechanism to support the development and improvement of health information resources and facilitates access to resources. Authorized under the Public Health Service Act to establish, expand, and improve basic resources of medical library and related information resources, the program has evolved from supporting traditional library collections and infrastructure to enabling technology-driven methods of information dissemination. These grants are designed to create or improve biomedical knowledge management tools, resources, and services that address identified yet unmet needs. Most recently, the program has focused on developing and disseminating technology-enabled health information resources to improve health literacy and expand access to accurate, trustworthy, and usable information for populations experiencing health disparities, as well as their health care providers (PAR-24-281). The program emphasizes a user-centered approach and addresses key factors that influence how information is used in health decision-making, including usability, access to digital and library resources, and individual-level considerations such as readability, comprehension, and presentation format. Additionally, new and emerging technologies are rapidly transforming the health information landscape, including advances in artificial intelligence (AI), digital health tools, mobile platforms, electronic health records systems, and data-driven decision support systems. These developments have changed how health information/knowledge is generated, communicated, shared, stored, and used. To ensure the NLM Information Resource Grants program remains impactful, scalable, sustainable, and aligned with community needs as well as aligned with the federal agencies’ funding priorities, NLM seeks insights, comments, and suggestions to guide its programmatic goals for the next phase of the program.
