About this archived opportunity
The FIFA destination marketing grant program provides competitive funding to help Washington communities prepare for and capitalize on the tourism and economic opportunities generated by the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Recognizing that Seattle will serve as a host city while millions of visitors travel throughout the region, the program is designed to extend the benefits of the tournament beyond King County by supporting tourism readiness, destination development, community activations, cultural programming and visitor engagement efforts across the state. Eligible projects may include tourism planning, marketing campaigns, destination assessments, placemaking initiatives, community events and enhancements that improve the visitor experience. Through these investments, the program seeks to increase visitor spending, strengthen local tourism economies and create lasting economic development benefits for communities throughout Washington. Priority is placed on projects that are implementation-ready, demonstrate strong local partnerships and support rural, underserved and historically underrepresented communities. By leveraging FIFA-related activities as a catalyst, the grant aims to build long-term tourism capacity, promote regional travel and leave a lasting legacy of stronger destination management, community engagement and economic resilience well beyond the 2026 tournament. Commerce intends to award approximately $700,000.00 under this RFA. Applications in excess of $700,000.00 will be rejected as non-responsive and will not be evaluated. In the event additional funding becomes available, any contract awarded may be amended to provide for additional related services. Additional funding is not guaranteed. Any contract(s) awarded as a result of this RFA is contingent upon the availability of funding. Maximum of $700,000.00 per contract. The number of awards depends on the number and quality of applications received. COMMERCE intends to award one or more awards up to $700,00
